Movember: Moustaches for a Mission
What is Movember?
Movember is a global movement that raises funds and awareness for men’s health every November. It focuses on three big issues: men’s mental health, suicide prevention, and prostate and testicular cancer. These conversations don’t happen often enough, and Movember helps start them.
Why it matters to students
Lots of students deal with stress, pressure, and isolation, and guys are often the least likely to talk about it or ask for help. Movember is a chance to make those conversations normal, check in on your friends, and be part of something that makes a real difference. It also brings campus together around something bigger than a single club or faculty.
What’s happening this November
The OTSU is teaming up with student societies for a month-long fundraising challenge. Each society is planning its own activities, from tabling events and prize wheels to moustache growing and kilometre challenges. They’re competing to see who can raise the most by the end of the month.
- Society challenge: Follow along to see which societies are in and how they’re fundraising. Cheer on your favourite, or stop by a table and chip in.
- Movember Celebration Social: We’ll wrap up the month with a competition and an award for the society that raises the most.
- Wellness moments: Expect wellness and awareness activities throughout November.
How to get involved
- Students: Pick a society to support and reach out to them directly to find out how they’re fundraising. Keep an eye out for their tabling on campus and stop by to chip in.
- Anyone who needs support: Ontario Tech has mental health and wellness resources on campus, and the OTSU team is always happy to point you in the right direction.
