Annual General Meeting: Part 2

Annual General Meeting: Part 2

North Campus | BIT 2080

January 30, 2026 at 12:00 AM

Participate in the future direction of your student union.

A big thank you to everyone who attended AGM Part 1 on October 29! We had a full agenda with several student proposals, and due to time, we were unable to finish the meeting. If you attended AGM Part 1, it’s important that you join us again to wrap up the discussion. And if you weren’t able to attend last time, this is your chance to have a voice in shaping the future of your student union.

AGM PART 2:

  • Date: January 29, 2026
  • Location: North Campus, BIT 2080
  • Time: 7:00pm

Every student who pre-registers and attends the AGM will be entered to WIN one of ten $50 Visa gift cards! All ten winners will be drawn and given their prize at the end of the AGM. Prize winners must be present at that time to claim their prize.

Event attendance and voting:
Only currently registered full-time Ontario Tech students are eligible to attend and vote during the AGM. Please bring your student ID to the event for sign in.

NOTE: You must have your student ID with a photo of yourself. If your digital student card doesn't have a photo, you must show a government issued ID.

Our AGM is the most important opportunity you have in shaping the future of your student experience—it is how you can impact the direction of the student union, have your voice heard by student leaders, and steer the future of the OTSU by voting on motions and proposals.

Free food and refreshments will be provided while quantities last.

If you cannot attend but would like to send an eligible member on your behalf, please fill out this AGM proxy form by January 25th at 11:59 pm.

WHAT’S AN AGM?

  • A formal, legally required meeting between the union and its members (you!)
  • Where we get approval from students on changes and amendments to Bylaws
  • Where we discuss motions put forward in advance (regarding governance and policy changes, advocacy issues, or service amendments)
  • The purpose is to ensure transparency and accountability in how the student union is run
  • All full-time students are invited and encouraged to attend

WHAT HAPPENS AT AN AGM?

  • Approval of last year’s AGM meeting minutes
  • Approval of financials and reports
  • Appointment of the auditor
  • Approval of proposed Bylaw amendments
  • Vote on implementing an ancillary fee for the Nutrition Access Program
  • Motions from members (if submitted and approved before the deadline)
