OTSU Partners with RMT to Support Esports Players
Today I'm talking to Chris Slomczewski, a registered massage therapist who has combined his career with his passion for gaming, and is bringing his services to OTSU Esports. Earning his diploma of therapeutic massage from the Oxford College of Arts, Business and Technology, Chris is a GTA-based RMT who is bringing his talents and treatment to the world of esports therapy. I sat down with him this week to talk about our partnership with him and its benefits to our players.
Hi Chris, the floor is yours. Tell us about yourself!
Hi everyone! My name is Chris and I'm a Registered Massage Therapist here in Ontario. Before starting in the field of healthcare I've always been a gamer at heart – the OG Pokemon games & N64 will always put a smile on my face. I'm a gamer that loves to help!
The crossover between massage therapy and esports is a unique one. How did that come about?
I've always known that helping people, seeing them reach their highest potential, brings me happiness. I figured, the best way for me to love my job and want to continue to do it for the rest of my life is to combine it with my favourite hobby: gaming! It's definitely unique but that just means more opportunity to help the people that may be too busy and stressed to go and get the help they need.
Are you doing this full-time, or is it just a side hustle until you start your global LLP?
Haha, I'm currently doing this full-time! I have personal training clients in the morning and then I attend local universities and colleges in the afternoon/night. My goal as the EsportsRMT is to provide pain management, stress management and injury prevention to local communities, and grow into providing that same services to esports organizations internationally.

Have you always been a gamer, or what got you into esports?
I've been a gamer from a young age! I started playing on N64 (still best Christmas present ever) and I've been playing ever since. SM64, Pokemon, and Runescape were my childhood until finding (and still playing) League of Legends. Watching Pro LoL got me into esports, and showed me that it was truly a career that I could get into.
Now for the staples
- Fav game: Pokemon Yellow
- Biggest gaming accomplishment: Reaching Grandmasters in LoL (peak 650 LP)
- Esports title you'd go pro in (if you could): League! I would be the absolute worst Thresh player on the scene, but would have so much fun doing it 😂
- Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat: Street Fighter all the way! I actually competed in SF4 and peaked top 8 in a local Toronto tournament.
- Mario Kart or Mario Party: Mario Party? Mario Party! Game nights where friendships are ruined seem to be the most fun haha!
Any parting words of wisdom for our student gamers?
Take care of yourself! We play games for fun and stress relief. Even at the highest level, don't forget to stretch and smile along the journey!
